What the Club Needed
The club ordered three courts for a facility that has to work in every season, not only between monsoons. Two things shaped the brief.
A shipment that goes together the first time. Glass arriving pre-drilled, crates packed court by court, components that match the drawings, and an engineer reachable while the frame goes up — on site those details decide whether a build takes days or weeks.
The climate. Colombo takes intense bursts of rain through the south-west monsoon between May and September, humidity stays high all year, and the sun does not let up. A court that traps water, corrodes at its base plates or fades within two seasons is not an investment — it is a maintenance bill.
What We Supplied
We supplied the complete padel court system — every component that has to fit together, produced to one set of drawings and shipped in one plan.
Court structure. Black-finished steel frame columns carry the mesh panels and glass walls. Base plates arrive pre-punched and aligned to the anchor drawing, so the club's team sets out positions once.
Glass walls. 12 mm tempered glass, cut and drilled before packing and shipped in wooden cartons, so no panel has to be re-drilled on site.
Playing surface. 12 mm padel turf with a PP fibre and net + SBR latex backing, laid over the base, bonded with adhesive and dressed with quartz sand for ball rebound and dimensional stability.
Lighting, net and hardware. LED sports lighting, centre post and centre net, EVA adhesive tape, bolts, nuts and elastic washers.
Documentation. Structural calculations, glass certificates, the hot-dip galvanising report and the LED photometric plan ship with the order.
Built for Sri Lanka's Monsoon, Humidity and UV
Rain. The turf quickly sheds rainwater, so the club did not need to invest in a separate outfall system. Water runs off the surface and never pools.
Humidity. Colombo stays humid all year. The frame and mesh are galvanised rather than only painted, so corrosion resistance sits in the material, not in a coating that wears through.
UV. PE fibres with UV stabilisers keep the surface from fading and embrittling under tropical sun.

Prepared for Self-Installation
When the customer installs, the supplier's job does not end at the factory gate. For this project we prepared the shipment so the club's team could work from the drawings without guesswork:
• Layout and anchor drawings issued before production, checked against the slab on site
• Glass pre-drilled and packed in wooden cartons, panel by panel
• Components and hardware labelled and bagged court by court — a crate opens as one court, not as a mixed pile
• Remote technical support during assembly — reachable by WhatsApp and video call while the frame and glass go up
• A documentation pack for the club's own engineer and for the local authority
On-site installation supervision is available on request. This club did not need it — they wanted the system, the drawings and a phone number that answers.

FAQ
1. Can GZUNISPORT supply a padel court to Sri Lanka?
2. Can we install the courts with our own contractor?
Yes — and this project is the example. The club's own team installed three courts while our engineers stayed reachable by WhatsApp and video call. To make that work we issue layout and anchor drawings before production, pre-drill the glass, label components court by court, and ship a documentation pack for your engineer. If you would rather have someone on site, installation supervision is available on request.
3. What documentation and drawings come with the shipment?
Layout and anchor drawings, structural calculations, glass certificates, the hot-dip galvanising report and the LED photometric plan. Clubs use this pack for their own engineer, their insurer and their FIP facility certification application.
4. Can a padel court handle Sri Lanka's monsoon and humidity?
The playing surface is built with its own drainage path, so no separate outfall system is required. The frame and mesh are galvanised rather than only painted, which matters in humid and coastal air, and the PE fibres carry UV stabilisers for tropical sun.
5. Is the court system FIP compliant?
The court system is built to FIP requirements, and we supply the material and test certificates to support it. The facility certification itself is applied for by the club, in its own name, once the courts are finished.
6. What are the standard dimensions of a padel court?
A standard doubles court is 10 × 20 m, with singles courts at 6 × 20 m. The base should be level concrete or asphalt at least 15 cm thick, and each court needs two removable exits. Full component details are on the padel court system page.
7. Can the court be installed on an existing concrete slab?
Yes, provided the slab is level, structurally sound and at least 15 cm thick. Send photos of the base with your site plan and we will confirm before production.
8. Who supplies the canopy or roof over the courts?
If you want the roof included, we supply padel court roof materials, and we will confirm the connection points and loads with your contractor before production.
9. How many padel courts can I fit on my plot?
Spacing between courts, safety run-off and access routes all affect the answer, so it comes from a drawing rather than a rule of thumb. Send your plot dimensions and the orientation you have in mind, and we will return a layout drawing with the court count.
