What is Silicone PU sports flooring?
Silicon PU sports flooring is a synthetic material based on polyurethane (PU) modified with silicone resin, designed specifically for sports environments. It features a dual-layer structure consisting of an elastic cushioning layer and a wear-resistant, non-slip surface layer. With an elastic recovery rate exceeding 95%, it effectively absorbs the impact of athletes jumping and running, reducing the risk of injuries to joints such as ankles and knees. The surface layer, optimized with silicone resin, is highly weather-resistant and resists cracking and fading in extreme temperatures ranging from -30°C to 60°C. Its coefficient of friction remains stable between 0.5 and 0.7, making it suitable for a variety of indoor and outdoor sports such as basketball, badminton, and volleyball. It is also stain-resistant and easy to clean, requiring only rinsing with water for daily maintenance.

Comparison of Silicone PU vs. Acrylic
Compared to acrylic sports flooring, the two differ significantly in performance and application scenarios. Regarding elasticity, acrylic is a rigid, water-based coating with no cushioning layer, which can produce a harsh response during exercise and lead to joint strain with long-term use. Silicone PU, on the other hand, features an elastic layer with adjustable thickness (3-5mm) to precisely match the shock absorption needs of different sports. Regarding durability, acrylic coatings have weak adhesion and are prone to peeling and flaking with even the slightest settling of the base layer. Their service life is typically 3-5 years. Silicone PU, with its strong tensile strength and adhesion, extends its service life to 5-8 years, reducing ongoing maintenance costs by 40%. Regarding installation suitability, acrylic requires extremely high base smoothness (≤2mm), making it suitable only for new venues. Silicone PU, on the other hand, can be leveled using its elastic layer, making it suitable for renovations of older venues and offering a wider range of applications.
