Classification by Material and Process
Polyethylene (PE) Turf
PE turf is highly soft, feels similar to natural grass, and has excellent UV resistance, making it a popular choice for sports fields. For example, professional football fields often use PE turf with reinforced straight or diamond-shaped strands. These strands are typically 50mm tall and have a density of 10,500 or more tufts per square meter. Combined with a rubber shock-absorbing layer, they meet the international Quality Pro certification standards.
Polypropylene (PP) Turf
PP is a relatively low-cost material with strong bending resistance but limited elasticity. It is often used as a supplementary material for curved or mixed turf. For example, in implantable natural-artificial hybrid turf systems, 20cm-long PP strands are embedded in the ground to reinforce the field structure. However, PP turf has poor wear resistance and a short service life, making it typically used in temporary or low-load scenarios.
Natural and Artificial Hybrid Turf System
Implantable: 20cm long PP turf strands are mechanically implanted into the ground, combining natural and artificial grass. This system is suitable for professional event venues, but installation is time-consuming and repair costs are high.
Carpet
Woven or tufted artificial turf carpet is laid at the root zone, allowing natural grass roots to penetrate the carpet, forming a stable system.
Classification by Infill Method
Infill Turf
Traditional Infill: quartz sand and rubber granules (such as SBR and EPDM) are used. This is relatively low-cost but requires regular replenishment.
High-end Infill: TPE granules are environmentally friendly, recyclable, and have excellent aging resistance, meeting the HIC 1000 head injury protection standard.
Infill-Free Turf
Straight and Curved Hybrid Turf: Increased turf weight (13,000-20,000 DTEX) and density (21,000-26,250 tufts/m²) achieve upright support, providing stable support without infill.
Classification by Application and Certification Standards
International Quality Pro Certification:Requires passing 6,000 Lisport XL abrasion tests, achieving an impact absorption rating of ≥60%, and rotational shear stiffness that meets AAA equipment testing requirements.
Natural-Artificial Hybrid Systems:For example, a grass carpet-type hybrid turf features a 100% natural grass surface, with artificial grass maintaining its function during the natural grass' dormant period. This system maintains green year-round and is environmentally friendly and pollution-free.
International Basic certification: For grassroots pitches, it simplifies pre-installation testing while enhancing basic performance. For example, a school football field can choose a PE monofilament + TPE infill solution with a lifespan of approximately 8 years.
Infill-free turf: Suitable for schools and communities. For example, the DeChuang Infill-free series utilizes a high-temperature, one-step molding process, resulting in a 200% higher pull-out force than traditional turf, reducing maintenance costs by 70%.
Football Field Types
5-a-side football pitch
The standard dimensions of a futsal pitch are 40 yards long (36.5m) and 30 yards wide (27.5m), in line with the Football Association's recommendations. The difference from the 11-a-side pitch is its unique circular penalty area, rather than a box-shaped penalty area. Regardless of the size of the field, the center of the semicircle penalty area on the futsal field is 6.5 yards (6m) from the middle of the goal line.
7-a-side football pitch
The field dimensions for Sevens are 60 yards long and 40 yards wide. Compared with the five-a-side game, the seven-a-side field is larger and contains a rectangular penalty area that is 18 yards long and 10 yards wide. There is no six-yard penalty area. The penalty spot is 8 yards from the goal line. You can choose to mark the penalty arc in the penalty area to indicate the location of the penalty spot.
11-a-side football pitch
The standard dimensions of a football field vary depending on the age of the players and the type of game. For 11-a-side football pitches, the length is usually between 90 and 120 meters and the width is between 45 and 90 meters. The size of the penalty arc, center circle and corner arc markers are the same as in the 9-a-side game. The length of the penalty area is 18 yards, and the penalty spot is 12 yards from the goal line. The size of the court also depends on the age of the players. For example, the youth team recommends 100 yards long and 60 yards wide. Recommended measurements for players 18+ are 110 yards long and 70 yards wide.
